CELTIC JEWELLERY

CELTIC JEWELLERY

CELTIC JEWELLERY in pagan times was worn by Women and Men, since this was a matriarchal culture, they both had equal rights. Archeological discoveries in recent times have shown that both genders had "Royal" tombs, the man with the "Golden Shoes" was quite recent, but the "Princess of Vix" redated the Hochdorf man with his golden footwear

More recently archeological digs have uncovered a great deal more including the precursors of the safety pin which were found in many sites around Europe. An other is the "Penannular" brooch which was more common in the Insular cultures of Brittania, Eire, and Alba (Scotland). The "Spectacle" arm bands which consisted of a spiral with several rings that were worn around the upper arm and the other end was another spiral, therefore archeologist called them 'spectacles' nee glasses.
